
Bio/Description
Thomas M. Flaherty received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California San Diego. Beginning in Fall 2024, he will be an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M University. His research explores the electoral politics of globalization from the perspective of local labor markets and internal migration. His dissertation shows how the regional effects of international trade, as well as voters' ability to migrate between regions, fuels support for populist parties. His work on the NAFTA trade shock also contributes to our understanding of the political and economic effects of integration. He has published in International Organization, Economics & Politics, and The Review of International Organizations.
