Bio/Description

Gino Pauselli has a Ph.D. in Political Science and a Master's in Statistics from the University of Pennsylvania. His research examines how multiple actors contribute to human rights progress and backlash around the world. In his book project, he studies how criticism from states leads to the expansion and contraction of rights granted to the LGBT community. In another set of projects, he explores the role of NGOs in the promotion and protection of human rights in the Inter-American human rights system, how rising powers shift states' preferences toward human rights, and how anxieties about territorial sovereignty negatively affect the enjoyment of basic human rights. His work has been published in International Studies QuarterlyResearch & PoliticsPS: Political Science & PoliticsLatin American Politics and Society, Human Rights Review, and Oxford University Press.
